High Value Target

Objective Type: Tactical / Control

Victory Points: 5 Points

Field Notes, Operation Silent Crown, name unknown.

SOL 37, Year 15 of the Broken Crown

We were told this wasn’t a battle, just an extraction. No banners, no glory. Command marked one unit among us as essential,

though none of us knew why. Word spread that the enemy had done the same. They said both sides carried something too

valuable to kill, and too dangerous to leave behind.

The fighting was quiet at first, movements in the fog, the hum of Aether rifles. But when we saw their mark, everything

changed. Orders came fast: secure, not destroy. It’s a strange thing, capturing someone who looks as scared as you are. By the

time we reached the edge of the field, I wasn’t sure who was the prisoner anymore, them, or us.

Scenario Overview

Each player secretly designates one unit on their roster as a High Value Target (HVT) — a key commander, operative, or political figure whose capture could determine the course of battle. Both sides must protect their HVT while attempting to locate and capture the enemy’s.

Setup

At the start of the game, each player secretly selects one unit from their army to be their High Value Target.

Reveal both selections after deployment is complete.

Mark these units clearly with an HVT token or counter.

How to Score (5 Victory Points)

A player scores 5 Victory Points if they successfully capture the opposing player’s High Value Target and return them to their deployment zone.

Capturing a High Value Target

An enemy unit must move into base-to-base contact with the opposing player’s HVT to initiate capture.

Once in contact, the HVT is considered Captured at the end of that activation.

While Captured:

The HVT loses its Attack stat (cannot attack or perform combat actions).

The HVT adopts the Movement stat of the capturing unit.

The capturing unit must escort the HVT back toward their own deployment edge.

If the escorting unit reaches its deployment edge while still controlling the HVT, the capture is complete.

Capture Resolution Options

When a High Value Target is successfully captured, the capturing player may immediately choose one of the following:

Eliminate the Capturing Unit – The capturing unit is immediately destroyed. The capturing player gains +4 Command Points.

Eliminate the Captured Unit – The captured High Value Target is executed. The capturing player receives –2 Command Points at the end of the game

but denies their opponent the ability to score the objective.

Special Rules

A Captured unit cannot be targeted by its own team’s abilities or auras.

If the capturing unit is destroyed before reaching its deployment zone, the HVT is immediately freed and returns to normal status.

Commanders or Legendary Heroes may be designated as High Value Targets, but doing so is considered high-risk.

Tactical Summary

This scenario rewards precision, timing, and risk management. Players must balance defense of their own HVT against the opportunity to capture and

control the enemy’s. Choosing when to eliminate, rescue, or sacrifice determines the flow of command — and may change the fate of Vaelthar’s most
